German luggage company, RIMOWA, hosted intimate 1950’s themed events in Los Angeles, on July 11, 2012, and New York, on August 1, 2012, to honor the first voyage of the JU-52 aircraft since 1937. The journey stateside celebrated the introduction of RIMOWA’s first aluminum suitcases which were inspired by the lightweight aluminum siding of the JU-52, which earned RIMOWA’s nickname, “the luggage with the grooves.” BPCM gathered celebrities, tastemakers and editors to celebrate the arrival of the JU-52 aircraft as well as the history of RIMOWA. BPCM secured national, regional and online editors to participate on the JU-52 scenic fight, resulting in the writers’ documenting their experience on the flight.
After a 45-minute flight tour around Manhattan on board the historic aircraft, guests were served German beer and champagne followed by a lavish 3-course dinner accompanied by a live jazz band at the Panorama Hangar within White Plains Airport. BPCM brought Joe Manganiello and Alessandra Ambrosio, top editors, and tastemakers to attend the event hosted by CEO Dieter Morszeck. BPCM secured an exclusive feature story in Town & Country prior to the event and post-event coverage in several outlets, including: The Wall Street Journal, The New York Daily News, Du Jour Magazine, and AContinuousLean.com.
In LA, celebrities included Chris Hemsworth, Aaron Paul with fiancé Lauren Parsekian, Danny Masterson and Marisa Tomei. Actor Chris Hemsworth toured the cockpit with RIMOWA’S CEO, Dieter Morszeck and actors Aaron Paul and Danny Masterson partook on the scenic flight JU-52 flight. Guests then gathered in an open hangar at the Van Nuys Airport for cocktails of German beer and champagne followed by a lavish dinner and entertainment by singer Nicole Simone.
