BPCM is pleased to announce its U.S. PR representation of AMANU, a completely custom sandal experience in West Hollywood, California, conceptualized by celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson.
With over 400 possibilities for customization, materials from the finest Italian factories, and master-trained makers ready to build your sandal right in front of your eyes, Amanu represents a radical shift from the standard retail experience of today. The brainchild of celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson, this West Hollywood brand transports you the moment you step through the door. Once inside the immersive space, you’ll be able to create a completely custom shoe, selecting from a range of styles, fabrics, and colors. Within 30 minutes, you’ll walk out in a pair of sandals that not only fit perfectly, but also represent your personal style.
Anita launched Amanu this April 2018 after realizing first hand that one of the hardest universal items to find for her clients (who include Eiza Gonzalez, Camila Alves, Julianne Hough) is the perfect pair of sandals. As an avid traveler, Anita was inspired during a trip to Capri, Italy when she stepped into a small sandal-making store and watched an Italian craftsman create the perfect sandal for her foot. She wanted to bring the same ability and human interaction of the process back here where sandals are worn year-round whether they be a day-time go to or dressed up for an event. In the West Hollywood workshop there are four young shoemakers whom were trained by a master cobbler brought here from Italy to teach the specific technique needed to make the sandals. Each one will walk the shopper through the selection process and fitting with the same interaction that Patrickson was enamored with during her trip to Capri.
The Amanu workshop was built to honor Patrickson’s home and family in Africa. The customer walks in and immediately feels transported into a relaxing and calming place that has been finished with baskets from Malawi and wooden stools from the Ivory Coast.
Amanu believes in the pursuit of less – no waste, no excess. The brand uses only what is necessary, and only source what is sustainable to create the sandals. Any extra leather that may exist after creating your sandal is turned into a keychain, the strap of one of their bags or used in creating another shoe. In addition to creating a perfectly fit sandal, this shop cuts down on the carbon footprint that most brands have to create footwear.
